AdExchange.com is Up for Sale by Adgregate Markets

Published 11 August 2009 No Comment

Adgregate Markets has announced that it is putting its AdExchange.com domain up for sale. The domain name is targeted at the online advertising industry; specifically companies wanting to establish a presence in the ad exchange marketplace. The ad exchange space has recently experienced significant growth which marks an opportunity for any major players wanting to acquire a premium domain in the ad exchange space.

AdExchange.com, which is publicly available for the first time ever, comes at a time when the major internet advertising companies such as Google’s Doubleclick Ad Exchange, Microsoft’s AdECN, Yahoo’s Right Media, and ContextWeb’s ADSDAQ have launched or are poised to launch their proprietary advertising exchanges. According to a recent report from William Morrison, Partner of Internet & Online Media Research for investment bank ThinkEquity, the online ad exchange marketplace is now a $1 billion plus market, with significant growth expected in the near future.

Ad exchanges create transparent, automated clearinghouses that enable publishers to get maximum revenue for typically unsold inventory while providing advertisers with complete transparency regarding the value of their ads. With unsold inventory on the rise, ad exchanges have become a crucial tool for publishers trying to capture their share of advertising dollars as well as advertisers needing to optimize ad spend. The leading ad holding companies including WPP, Omnicom, Publicis, Interpublic, and others have developed “demand generation platforms” in order to connect with the various exchanges in the future. The new platforms are designed to layer proprietary data held by the agency or marketer and dynamically allocate impression level media to specific clients and creative units.

Adgregate Markets is divesting its non-core assets, including AdExchange.com, that are non-essential to its core ShopAds™ network. Adgregate will be reviewing all competitive offers for the domain to select a potential acquirer.
